Synthetic biology combines biology, chemistry and engineering, the aim of which is, among other things, to explore biological systems that do not occur in nature but are based on its principles - such as so-called synthetic cells. In this context, one experimental platform to mimic cellular life are microscopic hydrogels. To elucidate the influence of dynamic processes of living cells on their key functions such as the synthesis of proteins, the position is devoted to utilize DNA as functional building block in the development of cell-like, dynamic microgels.
