We are looking to fill a doctoral position for the newly established interdisciplinary research training program “Navigating the Chaos of Innovation and Transformation” (NACHOS), which is funded by the state of Saxony-Anhalt and the ESF+.
The program examines how technological and digital innovations are controlled and implemented in various fields of society and how they can be socially successful, what conflicts arise in the process, and how these can be addressed. It offers structured, supervised doctoral phases on the main topic and aims to provide impetus for new forms of work, processes, and organization, as well as measures to promote the acceptance of (smart) technologies. The focus is on an interdisciplinary approach in which researchers and young scientists from the social and economic sciences work closely together.
For this innovative and ambitious project, we are looking for a doctoral candidate from the field of humanities with (research) interest in innovation fields such as robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and/or medical/health technologies.Your main responsibilities will be the independent development and implementation of a doctoral project on the topic of “innovation” within the framework of the Graduate School.
The position is based at the Center for Social World Research and Method Development (ZSM) at the Faculty of Human Sciences (FHW) at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.

Job description:

• Development and implementation of an empirical doctoral project in the field of innovation in the areas of robotics, AI/AI and/or medical/health technologies
• Active participation in the regular events of the NACHOS Graduate School

Requirements profile:

• Completed academic degree (diploma, master's) in social sciences, German studies, sociology, vocational and business education, or a related field
• Willingness to publish and travel, including stays of up to three months at universities and research institutions in other European countries
• Very good written and spoken English
• Sound methodological knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative research
