Dorothea Erxleben Visiting Professor

Die Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg ist eine forschungsstarke, regional vernetzte und international orientierte Profiluniversität. Mit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 1993 gehört sie zu den jüngsten Universitäten Deutschlands. Schwerpunkte liegen in den Ingenieur- und Naturwissenschaften sowie in der Medizin, aber auch Wirtschafts- und Humanwissenschaften sind unerlässliche Disziplinen, die für eine moderne Universität stehen. Zum 1. Oktober 2025 ist an der OVGU zum 26. Mal die
Dorothea-Erxleben-Gastprofessur ausgeschrieben. Diese Professur ermöglicht es nicht nur, wertvolle Forschungserfahrung zu sammeln und das eigene wissenschaftliche Profil zu schärfen, sondern auch, sich exzellent innerhalb der akademischen Gemeinschaft zu positionieren. Sie hat sich bereits für viele ehemalige Inhaberinnen als ein entscheidender Meilenstein auf ihrem Weg zu einer regulären Professur erwiesen. Die Universität vergibt die Gastprofessur für eine Dauer von zwei Jahren. Bewerben können sich Frauen, die eine akademische Laufbahn anstreben. Die Gastprofessur hat das Ziel, weibliche wissenschaftliche Karrieren zu fördern und herausragende Kandidatinnen auf eine Laufbahn als Hochschullehrerin vorzubereiten. In besonders begründeten Fällen ist die Besetzung auch für nur ein Jahr möglich.
Das fachliche Profil der Bewerberinnen ist nicht strikt vorgegeben, sollte jedoch an die Fachgebiete der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität anschlussfähig sein.

The profile of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg is research-driven, regionally networked and internationally-oriented. Having been founded in 1993, it is among Germany’s newest universities. There is particular emphasis on engineering and the natural sciences as well as medicine, but the economic sciences and humanities are also essential disciplines for a modern university. The university is characterized by excellent research that has an interdisciplinary and international orientation and is both commercially and socially relevant.
OVGU is seeking to appoint the 26th Dorothea Erxleben Visiting Professor starting from 1st October 2025. This professorship enables the holder not only to gain valuable research experience and to hone their own scientific profile, but also to take up an excellent position within the academic community. The university awards the visiting professorship for a duration of two years. Women who are striving to pursue an academic career may apply. The visiting professorship aims to promote the careers of women in academia and prepare outstanding female candidates for careers as university professors. In particular, justified cases it may also be possible to award the post for one year only.
The subject profile of applicants is not strictly prescribed; however it must be compatible with one of the subject areas covered by Otto von Guericke University.
