The Faculty of Natural Sciences seeks to fill the following vacancy at the Institute of Biology, Dept. of Cognitive Biology:

Doctoral or Postdoctoral position (m/f/d)
in multi-stable perception: no-report paradigms and functional imaging

Applications are invited for a doctoral or postdoctoral fellowship with Jochen Braun in Magdeburg, Germany. The research will investigate the influence of temporal context on visual object recognition learning in humans with behavioural paradigms and with functional imaging (fMRI). Additionally, there will be the possibility of participating in functional imaging studies of multi-stable perception.

Candidates must have a Master degree in physics (or similar), and strong quantitative and writing skills. Postdoctoral applicants should have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., neuroscience, physiology, physics). Prior experience with functional brain imaging, high-dimensional data analysis, and behavioural studies is desirable. Successful candidates will be required to assist teaching at the master level.

The possibility of scientific qualification is given and promoted accordingly.

Cognitive Biology is part of a large and vibrant neuroscience community (https://www.neuroscience-magdeburg.de/research/professor-jazz/). Magdeburg is a lively university town with a beautiful historical centre around the river Elbe and with convenient transport links to Leipzig and Berlin.

According to the German Part-Time Work and Fixed-Term Employment Act (TzBfG), the position has an unfounded fixed term of up to two years. The precondition is that the applicant has not been employed by the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt (Land Sachsen-Anhalt) before (this also includes student assistant positions). Fee agreements and apprenticeship contracts remain unaffected.
