The Magdeburg research initiative ‘SmartProSys: Smart Process Systems for a Green Carbon-based Industry in a Sustainable Society’ is researching new methodological solutions for the development of sustainable chemical and biotechnological production processes for the circular economy of tomorrow. A successful transformation of the chemical industry requires not only new findings and technologies in process engineering and chemical engineering, but also a holistic systemic approach. This is why scientists from the fields of logistics, mathematics, sociology, political science and psychology are also involved in the SmartProSys research initiative. The research network pursues the goal of creating a focus in the sense of the Excellence Initiative of the federal and state governments. The following position is for the purpose of further personal academic qualification (doctorate) and is to be filled as part of the newly founded ‘SmartProSys Graduate School’ excellence initiative.

Your main tasks:

• Designing and conducting experiments on pyrolysis processes for plastic recycling
• Perform experiments using modern laser diagnostics
• Analysing and processing data
• Preparation of project reports and publications
• Cooperation and continuous exchange with project partners
• Pursuing a PhD
  

Your profile:

• Above-average M.Sc. degree or equivalent in engineering, physics or a related subject
• Fundamental knowledge of thermodynamics
• First experience in experimental work, especially optical and laser diagnostics
• Basic coding skills are desirable
• Very good proficiency in English
